Today I want to share a story about a lovely client and a custom bikini order I made for her. The client needed a bikini top that would cover her back and one of her arms because of some burns that should not be exposed to the sun. She mentioned that in the past years she had not been going to the beach (despite living at the seaside) since she could not find a suitable bikini and on the occasions that she did go, she had to wear a rash guard that would cover up those parts of her body.
After searching for someone that would make her a custom bikini, and being turned down, she finally stumbled upon Shobain and I gladly took on the challenge of creating a bikini that would fit all her needs and wishes.
The process started with discussing the design features and going through available fabric swatches. I then drew up two designs based on her wishes and the fabrics she had chosen. The client then came to the studio to get her measurements taken and I then I got to work with pattern-drafting.
After several muslins (test garments), pattern adjustments and a fitting session, two beautiful custom bikinis were made and sent over to the client. She tried them on and was happy with the fit and with the fact that she will now have bikinis made to her own unique needs and desires. I was delighted to hear that she is now going to the beach with her family and getting lovely comments on her wonderful new Shobain bikinis.
